Abstract : In the article the lexical layer referring to the traditions and customs, national ceremonies as well as to the seasonal work and family religions occurring in the speech of Samarkand people have been analyzed. The ethnographic vocabulary being one of the ancient layers of the language has been investigated from the point of view the history of the language, dialectology and lexicography.
