Abstract : This thesis examines the level of environmental awareness among elementary school students in Nongjrong Village, East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya. Using a descriptive survey method, the study covered 100 students from Classes V– VIII and employed the Environmental Awareness Scale developed by Haseen Taj. The findings show that most students had below-average environmental awareness, with 55% falling in the below-average category and 27% in the low category. The study found no significant difference in environmental awareness between male and female students. It also compared awareness levels based on school management and found differences between government-aided and private school students. The thesis concludes that stronger environmental education, practical school activities, community participation, and awareness programmes are needed to improve environmental responsibility among elementary students in Nongjrong.
