Bank Selection Determinants by Age Group Educated People Located in Dhaka City: A Study of Private Commercial Banks

Abstract : This study advances evaluating factors that dominate bank selection by young, educated cohort population located in Dhaka City of Bangladesh for to be bank customers. The survey outcome of a mix of 300 employees & students where students come from diverse academic disciplines & backgrounds who are customers of private commercial bank(s). The findings reveal that the most important variables that influence customers’ choices are digital banking facilities, branch location and profit rate. The findings show that digital banking places first where the bank environment places the last when it comes to the selection of bank(s) for banking services. Notifications through mobile banking transactions and bKash services have dominated all digital facilities used by the banks. This study bridges the existing gap in banking literature by identifying the important bank selection determination factors. Finally, it concludes some policy recommendations, which are expected to have impacts in multi-faucets on marketing efforts for private commercial banks (PCBs), particularly located in Dhaka City, Bangladesh.
