Abstract : The demand for electricity energy has been on the rise in Saudi Arabia, which has constrained the available resources, therefore, to meet this disparity there is need to expand the power generation. The common power generation methods have negatively affected the human health through environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, an alternative source of energy that can preserve the environment by eliminating pollutions and can provide support to the available sources during the peak hours. This report compares solar energy and fossil fuels based on merits or demerits, uses and the economics.
