Abstract : The leaves of Ocimum gratissimum are used as vegetables with medicinal properties. An analysis of the nutrient, phytochemical, mineral, and ascorbic acid components of Ocimum gratissimum leaves is conducted. The fresh leaves of Ocimum gratissimum were collected, processed, and analysed for proximate analysis, preliminary qualitative phytochemical screening, quantitative phytochemical analysis, minerals, and ascorbic acid using standard methods.

Keywords : Ocimum gratissimum, African Basil, Phytochemicals, Proximate Composition, Mineral Analysis, Vitamin C, Functional Food, Medicinal Plants.
