Abstract :
Introduction:
Premenopause is a natural transitional period preceding menopause and is commonly accompanied by menstrual,
physical, psychological, and behavioral changes. Adequate knowledge is important because it helps mothers recognize these
changes, prepare appropriately, adopt healthy behaviors, and seek professional support when necessary. However, the study
findings indicate that mothers in Uato-lari Village have varying levels of understanding and that important knowledge gaps
remain.
Objective of Research:
This study aimed to describe mothers’ knowledge regarding premenopause in Uato-lari Village, Vemasse
Administrative Post, Baucau Municipality, in 2026, particularly their knowledge of the premenopausal period, associated
signs and symptoms, physical changes, and psychological or behavioral changes.
Research Method:
The study employed a qualitative descriptive method with an exploratory approach. The participants consisted of 10
premenopausal mothers aged 45–47 years in Uato-lari Village. The researchers collected data through in-depth individual
interviews and documentation. The researchers analyzed interview data thematically through familiarization, coding,
categorization, and identification of significant themes. The study addressed trustworthiness through credibility,
dependability, confirmability, and transferability.
