Abstract :
Background
Post-operative adherence following follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplantation is frequently assumed to
influence graft survival, yet the relative contribution of individual aftercare components, dietary adherence, supplement use,
adjuvant medical therapy, hair-care practices, and timing of return to physical activity, has not been quantified within a single
cohort.
Methods
In this prospective cohort study, 612 patients undergoing FUE hair transplantation were followed for 12 months. Postoperative diet adherence, supplement use, use of topical minoxidil and/or oral finasteride, hair-care adherence, and day of
return to strenuous activity were recorded using structured questionnaires administered at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months. Graft
survival was assessed using standardized photographic density analysis. Multivariable linear regression was used to identify
independent predictors of 12-month graft survival, adjusting for age, baseline Norwood stage, and graft number.
