Abstract :
Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR) is a collection of techniques that utilize microorganisms and their
metabolic products to improve the recovery of oil. The microorganisms produce gases and chemicals (bio-acids, biosurfactants, bio-gases, bio-polymer and bio-mass) with oil as carbon source. The production of these by-products in the
reservoir changes the reservoir fluid and rock properties and consequently improves the sweep efficiency which in turn
increases the oil production.
