Abstract : This conceptual review integrates the mechanistic hallmarks of cutaneous aging with population-specific and gender-dependent variables to establish a targeted formulation framework for the Asia Pacific region. The synthesis delivers three core scholarly contributions: first, it establishes how baseline sexual dimorphism and distinct hormonal trajectories (such as postmenopausal estrogen drop vs. gradual testosterone decline) alter structural skin compartments and manifest divergent clinical phenotypes between gender; second, it maps the unique photo-pollution exposome of East and Southeast Asian cohorts, highlighting the prominence of dyspigmentation over deep wrinkling; and third, it provides concrete formulation design rules—pairing stabilized, low-pH vitamin C, matrix-stimulating peptides, and multifunctional botanicals—tailored to these distinct regional and gender-specific cutaneous vulnerabilities. Additionally, we evaluate the limitations of current diagnostic scales and highlight the role of controlled environmental challenge systems in validating anti-pollution efficacy. Ultimately, this framework provides a structured blueprint for transitioning from generic anti-aging formulations to ethnically and structurally personalized dermatological interventions.
