Abstract :
In the recent years the electricity has become
a staple need and steep rise in the demand of electricity
has been observed in household with use of different
appliances, industries, hospitals and other consumers.
An electricity meter is a device that measures the
consumption of energy units.The conventional method
of electric billing process requires human operators to
collect the data by visiting the house of each consumers.
This task of collection of data in conventional method of
billing is tedious and cumbersome. Human errors are
more prevalent to occur during this process of data
collection. Consequently, this billing process requires a
large working hours and human operators.
The IOT based automation in billing process
mitigates the trouble which arises in conventional
billing process. In this process the consumption of units
of energy is calculated through the pulses which are
converted into energy units and further sends it to the
server. The camera is installed in front of meter which
captures the image and sends it to the server. The user
by logging in the server using his unique ID and
password can verify his consumption. This automatic
billing process enhances the transparency in the billing
process. It also reduces the mammoth working hours
and decreases human intervention in billing process,
thereby increases the accuracy.
