Abstract :
Policing in India is often characterized by high stress, excessive workloads, prolonged working hours, and a
challenging work environment. While numerous studies have examined the job satisfaction of women police officers, limited
attention has been paid to their male counterparts, leaving a critical gap in understanding gender-based differences in this
domain. This study seeks to evaluate and compare the level of job satisfaction among male and female police officers in
Kerala, focusing on personnel ranging from sub-inspector to police constables in the law and order wing. Employing a
mixed-methods approach, the study analyzes primary data collected from 120 officers in kerala using a structured
questionnaire. Statistical tools such as mean, standard deviation, and chi-square tests were utilized to interpret the data.
Findings from this research aim to assist policymakers in designing gender-sensitive strategies to enhance the overall job
satisfaction of police personnel.
