Abstract :
Welded joints are used in various mechanical
and civil structures. The welding process involves joining
of two materials (through coalescence). The strength of
welded joint is significantly affected by heat effected
zone, strength of material. The fatigue life of welded
joint is significantly affected by repetitive cyclic loadings.
The current research reviews the existing work
conducted on improving the strength of weld joint using
both experimental and numerical techniques. The effect
of temperature, filler material and operating conditions
is thoroughly investigated by various scholars.
