Abstract :
MHRD under its National Mission on
Education through ICT, has initiated the National
Digital Library of India (NDL India) a pilot project to
develop a virtual repository framework for learning
resources with a search function in a single window.
Search utilizing filters and by languages can help the
users mainly students to reach a refined search result
without additional training with a lot less time on each
search. NDL India is designed to cater to multi-lingual
user-base and with the support of interface can reach a
multitude of India which is a country of more than
hundreds of languages. Content is provided to serve the
vernacular nation with the support of multi-lingual data
and metadata in major languages. It is specifically
developed and maintained to serve the academic
communities of all major languages. This application
finds itsusers in every educational stage from students,
researchers, teachers, persons with disabilities with its
accessibility features. It can be utilized by users as their
personal libraries helping them to prepare them for
various exams and also to incorporate many
academically proclaimed practices accepted world-wide.
It also helps users to explore resources in multiple
languages and understand their interrelations.
