Abstract : Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent and clinically significant complication of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and is associated with adverse in-hospital outcomes. However, data regarding the early development and clinical correlates of AKI among patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) remain limited in resource-constrained settings. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of early AKI and examine its association with selected demographic and clinical characteristics among patients hospitalized with STEMI.

Keywords : STEMI, AKI, AMI.
