Abstract :
Medicinal plants remain one of important sources of bioactive compounds for the discovery of therapeutic agents.
This study investigated the phytochemical composition, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory activities of Vitex
doniana and Detarium microcarpum extracts (stem bark and leaf). Plant sample was extracted with methanol usning soxhalet
extractor. Phytochemical screening was carried out using standard method. Antioxidant activities was assessed using DPPH
radical scavenging. Antimicrobial activities was evaluated using the agar wall diffusion method and anti-inflammatory activities
was carried out using inhibition of albumin denaturation (in vitro). The study showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids,
tannins, steroids, and glycosides on both the plant extracts.
