Abstract : Background: Poliomyelitis, caused by poliovirus, remains a significant public health concern despite global eradication efforts. This review comprehensively examines the virology, pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, and eradication strategies for poliovirus infection in children.  Methods: We conducted a narrative review of peer-reviewed literature, WHO reports, and Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) publications.

Keywords : Poliovirus; Poliomyelitis; Children; Oral Polio Vaccine; Inactivated Polio Vaccine; Eradication; Vaccine-Derived Poliovirus.
