Abstract :
Tourism has an essential role in economic
development, particularly for archipelagic regions. A
good understanding of the use-value of recreation is
crucial to tourism development. This study aims to
estimate the tourism recreation value of Giliyang Island
by adopting the individual travel cost method. The result
of this study illustrate that the consumer surplus value is
IDR 331,289 per individually per visit and the tourism
recreation value of Giliyang Island is IDR 1,625,301,381.
These results provide information for formulating
sustainable and environmentally-conscious tourism
policies, management, and development of Giliyang
Island.
