The aims of this research are to reveal the struggle of poor people against the capitalism in Australia which appear in the novel and to explain and reveal the consequences of being a rebel. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The researcher used close reading to get the result of this research. The results of the research showed that there are many poor people that still struggling with poverty and discrimination and we cannot act arbitrarily because we have more privilege than some people. In this novel also show how Kelly’s family struggle to live in peace. It also shows some consequences of being a rebel, like being in jailed, violence, and many more.
