Transformational Leadership of School Heads and School Culture as Predictors of Professional Commitment

Abstract : This study determined the significant influence of transformational leadership of school heads and school culture as predictor of professional commitment of teachers. The quantitative approach using the correlational technique and analysis were utilized in this study with a sample of 300 teachers coming from the Elementary Schools of Caraga Central District, Schools Division of the City of Mati. Sets of adapted survey questionnaires were used in obtaining data from the respondents which were subjected for content validity and reliability analysis. The data were analyzed using the Mean, Pearson-r, and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results revealed that the levels of of transformational leadership was rated very high, school culture and professional commitment was also rated very high. Moreover, a significant relationship existed between these variables. A significant relationship between transformational leadership of school heads and professional commitment of teacher; and school culture and professional commitment of teachers was significant. A significant relationship between and school culture and professional commitment of teachers was also significant. The extent of influence of predictor variables on teachers’ efficacy was proven in the study.
