Abstract :
The article analyses data from the common
domain to determine the effect of over 20 years of crude
oil exploitation (1970-1990) on the Nigerian people and
thus determine during which periods the people and their
economy fared better. This study covers the paraagricultural, oil boom, and doom eras. Statistically,
significant differences were found between the levels of
human development in the different periods.
