Abstract : Road construction projects are critical to Rwanda’s infrastructure and economic development; however, delays, cost overruns, quality concerns, and inconsistent project performance continue to affect successful project delivery. This study examined the influence of project governance mechanisms on the performance of the Kibugabuga-Shinga-Gasoro road construction project connecting Bugesera and Nyanza Districts, Rwanda. Specifically, it assessed governance structure, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and accountability and transparency. A descriptive and correlational research design was adopted, involving all 81 respondents through census sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression in SPSS Version 27.
